FBI HRT and SWAT officially getting suppressed
Not sure if this is old news but I'm just reading internal article regarding the introduction of sanctioned suppressors:
"When the xxx team presented this solid evidence of the dangerous noise levels the guns produced, CIRG leadership approved the procurement of the suppressors for all SWAT and HRT shooters.
xxx then worked with SSA xxxx at the Ballistics Research Facility, the FBI's renowned research center at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, to identify the potential vendors' requirements , and how the suppressors would be evaluated in the request for proposals.
Then BRF conducted a technical data review on the proposed suppressors, testing for accuracy, velocity, distance, repetitive shooting, noise and, more subjectively, the blowback of toxic gases.
The suppressors that met the technical requirements during BRF testing went to Quantico for hands-on testing and evaluation by HRT and SWAT operators on the range. Employees rated each option, and the highest scoring suppressor next had to meet the BRF's functional reliability standard for weapons and ammunition.
The BRF allows no more than one malfunction in 2,000 rounds fired, so the suppressor had to hold up to that test. If there were two malfunctions, that option failed. It passed, and finally, the first suppressor contract in the Bureau's history was awarded in September 2021.The field suppressor distribution process began in November 2021."
