I don't think any single event or incident besides Uvalde has so thoroughly destroyed the myth of Texas, the nation-state where men are men, women can be strong, and law enforcement is brave, capable, and respected. This is a bigger cluster than Parkland, it seems to involve all relevant levels of government, it was inexcusable from the start and no one is being punished to any meaningful extent.

This is the level of incompetence I would expect from fresh new recruits on NYPD or other affirmative-action-and-patronage big city departments. In fact, it's even beyond that level. Maybe fresh hires on Minneapolis PD right after the Floyd riots.

"State Rep. Joe Moody said despite what surfaced in the video, he confirmed that Ruiz had tried to engage the shooter but was disarmed." Need more details and time frames on that, but it's pretty F-ed up. I wonder if he ends up attempting to sue. On what legal grounds I'm not clear.

Instituting some draconian punishments for cowardice and lying would get better results for less money.

Tell MCraw they’ll consider it once he tenders his resignation.

Survivors of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, have filed a $27 billion class action lawsuit against multiple law enforcement agencies in Texas.

I wonder what the chances are they successfully get all $27 billion, probably not very high. But… those folks in Texas are rightfully pissed off at the LE response so who knows.

Uvalde sues prosecutor for information about elementary school massacre

    https://www.courthousenews.com/uvald...hool-massacre/

The city of Uvalde sued a district attorney Thursday for withholding records needed for its investigation of its police officers’ response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary.

The fallout over law enforcement’s ineptitude during a gunman’s massacre of 19 students and two teachers on May 24 in the close-knit West Texas town, population 15,000, is still in flux, and Uvalde police officers may yet face discipline for their inaction that day.

But the anger of the victims’ relatives and Uvalde residents is not solely directed at the city’s police force.
Religion is doing what you are told no matter what is right. Morality is doing what is right no matter what you are told...
