WMD Bolt Carrier Group - Magnetic Firing Pin

I bought a WMD BCG not too long ago. I noticed the firing pin was magnetic.

When I contacted WMD they said they would not replace it they said I could send it back in on my dime. When I asked for a label they said: " No I’m sorry. We would not issue a label to exchange something for personal preference."

Is it really a preference to have it be non magnetic?

For what its worth I had a Geiselle with the same issue and they just send me a new one for free.

The firing pin is made from alloy steel, and therefore can be magnetized under the right conditions.

So, de-magnetize it, if it bothers you.

It's the tracking devise installed by the Feds. Ignore it.

It isn’t really an issue unless you shoot a lot of steel. I typically don’t shoot steel so don’t pay a lot of attention to magnetism.

If you shoot alot of a steel cases you can get metal shavings building up inside your firing pin channel. Demagnetize it or clean it out with a q-tip every now and then.

If you align a piece of iron or steel with magnetic north and strike it, you can magnetize it. I am not shocked they did not exchange it, but certainly don't fault you for asking them to.

Posting about it in a way that paints the response as poor customer support? You do you.

Thanks for the heads-up on yet another retailer who I'll never purchase from. Jerks. Good Public Service Announcement.

Because they wouldn't pay to exchange a perfectly serviceable part? Are you being sarcastic?
