    That’s kinda where I am.

I’m not saying to not practice with whatever you’ve got but I want to at least try with the least advantages possible. Dicken had adrenaline working against him which you can’t come close to simulating. Hell, I don’t even own a sub compact or micro so it feels like cheating using my compact 9s.

Thanks! You both had very impressive runs.

We are all, and should be, proud of our accomplishments and abilities as shooters.

I suggest DISCRETION is the watchword.
This has been something that's concerned me as well. I've had less skilled shooters shoot at 25+ yards before just so they know they're not going to make that shot. They may eventually work their way up to that skill level. That's certainly something to strive towards, but I believe knowing what you're NOT capable of is at least as important as being a good shooter when it comes to using guns around nonthreats.

I may have to re-think my bi-annual pistol qualification... dust off the Glock, and try this drill with my own gun.

I'd really love an "A-zone" piece of steel. (faster/instant feedback)

I shoot handguns at 25 yards regularly. I’m just adding 40-50 yards for this drill and to my practice sessions.

Simply including a couple 5 rd strings @ 50 yds each range session serves to “de-mystify” 50 yd shooting (or 40 obviously) with handgun and adds to the shooters comfort level and ability to make hits at that range.
I’ve observed guys going from maybe 1 or 2 hits out of 5 rds on timed fire at 50 yds, to comfortably shooting 4 to 5 out of 5 over a few sessions.
Multiple targets at that range further help with skill at distance.

It's funny. I remember taking my first advanced handgun course where we shot at 50 and 100. We were already doing this in the desert all the time with pistol on our rifle targets.

The instructors thought I was a rock star. We only needed to get 2 hits with no time or round count limit at 50... and just try 100. I though NOTHING of it at the time. I didn't think I was hot shit or anything... I mean... just shoot the target.

Is any hit on this target a qualifying shot?? We were shooting to where only the centermost shots would count.
