    M4C Dicken Drill Thread

I need to add this 40-50 yards drill to my practice sessions.

It’s very time consuming to do a reload with a small magazine out of a loose pocket. Lots of digging and wasted time.
I carry a shield and just stuff the spare mag in my waistband. Ymmv, but they stay put for me. G19 nags require a holder.

Actually doing long range made me realize its not black magic. Figure out the holds and stick to fundamentals.

Fullsized ipsc steel at 100 w/pistol and 600 w/cl 14.5" ar are much easier than I expected. Granted they are huge targets.

I'm glad this drill is catching on and those who've never shot at longer distances with pistols are hopefully taking notice and making it a part of their regular training regimen. Last part of the video shows him going 2/2 at 120 yards on what appears to be IPSC size steel. When you consider how long some of the buildings we all find ourselves in during daily activities are (grocery store, mall, parking lot, etc) it makes too much sense to push pistols out to extended distances (100 yards plus) regularly. Good stuff.

With a G19 and RMR I did it in 9.90 seconds and much better accuracy. I had 8/10 inside the C zone (I shot it at a paper target) and 2 Ds (although one was ALMOST off the D and into the black outside)

Surprise surprise. A red dot and a full size gun is faster and more accurate.

Also - its crazy how so many people want to talk about guns but so few want to talk about shooting.

    Where's everyone else at???

Haven’t made it to the range since this thread started but curious to see how it goes with the G43. I have both Vickers and Shield Arms extension so no reload on the latter. I go back and forth on carrying a spare mag but often when I don’t I feel like I should have it. Also go back and forth on pocket carrying the reload vs a IWB kydex mag carrier that goes just inside the hip on my weak side. We usually shoot steel at this range for fun, 10” round with an 8” round above it. I do ok but never timed so this should be fun on USPSA target.

Per our discussion Euro, I ran this drill Sunday with the pups.
    It was shot cold.

One of the guys passed the standard at 13.82 seconds/8 hits on target, thinking it was 2-A,5-C, 1-D.
He used a tricked out G-19 with optics.
The other three failed. Miserably. Proving you get out of something what you put into it.

I shot it quicker and with better hits than the one that shot a “Pass”.
I used my usual range gun; Staccato DVC P, optics gun (and have decades more handgun trigger time). Absolutely an unfair advantage over a daily carry gun. It’s also a pistol I’d never attempt to carry concealed.

I shall shoot this again this Sunday with my actual P365 (which is far from stock).
I believe I’ll shoot a “Pass”, but nothing like a full size, optics, range gun.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

Yeah, I ****in' hate that about gun forums.

Okay, I've shot this a couple of times now, best run so far has been 12.20, 9/10; 3/A, 2/C, 4D.

Any suggestions on adapting this for us 1911 throwbacks without throwing down for extended magazines? 80% passing score rounding up suggests 7/8 on a 7+1, or 8/9 on an 8+1.
