    China threatens possible military response over Pelosi’s Taiwan Trip

    (Bloomberg) -- China issued strong private warnings to the US government about a planned trip to Taiwan by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which included a possible military response, the Financial Times reported.

    The warnings were much stronger than those made previously when China wasn’t pleased with US policies and actions related to Taipei, the paper said, citing unidentified people familiar with the issue.

    Thanks again for that deep insight, I'm always amazed at your detailed information regarding our military's capabilities.

    China can posture all it wants, and will.

    But the instant they did any form of military action against the US we would stop paying and their economy would crash.

    It's like they're holding a very large mortgage. You may not get along but the fact remains that the person's (US in this case) is reliably paying on their mortgage. But the instant you took them to court or did some other aggressive action those payments are going to stop with immediate adverse impact to your cash flow.

    Put another way, countries don't pay back debt to countries which are attacking them.
