    Elcan Spector DR updates?

I have liked this optic in theory but I have not actually seen one in person. I noticed in another thread that Larry Vickers has been running one and his opinion up to that point is it was gtg. I know the early versions had some issues with their mounts, and lever size for the magnification etc. But from what I have read the newest version has addressed those and I would assume the version Larry V is shooting is the newest version.

Does anyone have input on the NEW version not the same stuff from the first generation?

In my unit, every swining dick has one. Nobody runs one. Most guys wish they just went with an ACOG and a 7 MOA Dr Optic.

Personal opinion, we got ripped off with Elcan.

I like the idea of this optic, but I feel the actual execution is less than desirable.
I could live with the size and weight, but the ARMS levers are a deal-breaker for me.

I beleive LAV had just gotten his in early NOV...

The theory is sound - however as mention the mounting system and the adjustment method (the scope body pivots on the windage screw - and moves up and down via the elevation wheel) is a bad bad idea.

Most of the sights have the typical Elcan crappy mount shift of 2-3MOA. Then add in the ARMS mount loses its tension when moved from gun to gun or off and on a lot. Add in the magnifier shift causes zeor shift...

Very recently one SOF unit that got some found that the sight was not shifting anything like the past - most within 1MOA.

I got issued one and I hate it. It was an unneeded compromise. The ACOGs we had are were great and you can't beat the EOTech for what it does. The Elcan DR is another example of the good idea fairy buying gear for SOCOM.

The first thing one of my Team Sergeants said after day 1 of SFAUC, "This is a piece of shit. I want my ACOG back.....................toss my a beer."

    It's true.

Really, who is on the committee that decides this stuff? Is there anyone out there who prefers the SpecterDR to an ACOG w/ Dr Optic?
