    My USAF GAU-5A inspired Takedown

A little background on why I built this thing. I typically stick with 14.5" and 16" carbines, I don't have any NFA stuff (SBR, suppressor, etc.) and AR pistols have never really interested me, but I ended up with a good deal on a BCM KINO upper, so I said what the hell I'm going to build a pistol for shits and giggles. I pick up a Vltor A5 pistol RE, Gear Head Works Tailhook Mod1 pistol brace and Tactical LAW folder…put it all on one of my SIONICS stripped lowers along with my usual FCD controls and SSA G-trigger. Man, I’m liking this thing, but alas Obumer days forces the sale of the KINO upper and ass end components (I kept the lower). As much as I like it and appreciated the compact size, I wanted something that could break even smaller…enter the USAF GAU-5A as soon as I saw it I knew I was going to build one. Here is what I came up with, shown in comparison with my 16" SIONICS Patrol XL Three build...

    Upper:
Aero Precision Stripped Upper Receiver, No Forward Assist - FDE Cerakote
12.5" Criterion Core Barrel w/ Carbine Gas
Cry Havoc AR15 QRB 2 Pin Military Model
    BRT Covert Comp 5.56
BRT MicroPin Gas Block - .625"
    SOLGW BCG
    Cloud Defensive CORv1 - OD
Radian Weapons "Defend the 2ND" Raptor Charging handle - Black Multicam
The last piece I need... Forward Controls Design EPC in OD green, C'mon Roger help a brother out.

    Lower:
SIONICS Lower Receiver (I bought 6-pack for $65 a piece back when they were available)
Radian Weapons Talon FDE with Medium Medium Taper levers (I was torn between this one and my "Defend the 2A" that came with my CH.)
    Norgon Ambi-Catch Mag Release
    BAD-EMR - FDE
SOLGW Blaster Starter Kit (Rest of the small parts)
    Pre-PNT BCM mil-spec trigger
FCD TGF trigger guard - OD
FCD ESF-H receiver end plate - OD
FCD CNF Castle Nut - FDE
Reptilia CQG grip - Field Drab/Fed. Std. 30118 with Talon DIY grip tape - Rubber-Moss (ala Yojimbo he did a better job)
Colt factory anodized OD 4-postion Carbine RE w/ BCM H2 buffer and Sprinco Blue Spring
SB Tactical SBA3 - FDE with Wise Men Company SBA3 SplitFix - Multicam

Additional accoutrement pictured (most of which have been re-appropriated at this point):
    BE Meyers MAWL-C1+ FDE
    Cloud Defensive OWL - FDE
Aimpoint T-1 Micro 2 MOA with KAC Aimpoint T-1 / T-2 Battery Cap and TangoDown IO Cover-for Aimpoint T-1
    Scalarworks LEAP-01 1.57" Micro Mount
    Arisaka M-LOK finger stop
    Hazard4 Plan B '17 - FDE for the takedown
SERT 36" TCC for my carbines

    Cool
    As
    Shit

Have something similar in security box in truck.

Too cool. Great assembly. Glad to see new guns again other than "box" guns.

    I like everything about that.

Thanks guys. It was a different build from I have done in the past, used a bunch parts I hadn't used before but wanted to check out. It was fun.

Is the weight of the Cry Havoc system noticeable?

Yeah, it is not a lightweight unit for sure but it is not unmanageable heavy either. Unfortunately, I didn't have my scale with me so I didn't weight it but it is heavier than a LAW folder I'm pretty sure. It tanks up pretty good with the OWL and MAWL.

Dude that has to be one of the nicest builds I’ve seen in a long time. I especially dig the mix of OD and FDE. One question, why no dust cover?
