ATF is going to have an amnesty for braced pistols

This is going to get very interesting. Obviously stating in writing that something's legal and then changing the regulations with no corresponding change in the law is complete and utter BS. Add to this a point system that they fabricated out of nothing and the number of firearms involved. I'm expecting to see lawsuits.

They'll require a before picture, so if you had the thought of avoiding the $200 for a pistol that was never braced, that's not going to happen.

I think the ATF has ZERO chance of getting away with this in light of recent court rulings.

    So I am not worried.

I was hoping that it would just be a general amnesty, but no such luck.

So if I do amnesty, I can put a stock on it and avoid the $200 tax? Basically a braced pistol would become an sbr without the tax, right?

If we’re reading this right, yes? So basically you could eFile a Form 1 to “amnesty” a pistol braced lower, NOT pay $200, and voilà, free SBR stamp!

This sounds like a ploy to gain more information on gun owners for something later on. I don't trust it.

So hypothetically I could buy a 5 position brace that fits on a milspec receiver extension and simply take photos of the lower with said brace and a short upper installed and I can get free stamps for all my lowers?

This doesn't sound like backdoor registration at all... not one bit. /s
