Vehicle gun storage in the trunk for a rifle

Every single "gun safe" I see doesnt really do what I want and where it goes doesnt work.

I have an 04 crown vic and the safes I see take up the entire bottom or at the top of the tank where the spare tire goes.

Is there some kind of vertical option that rises upward instead of lying flat on its back like a cheap hooker? Im trying to keep as much space as possible and moving the tire to the floor is no option nor is a flat tray taking up the entire bottom of the floor like 90s camerio sub boxes.

I thought about cable locking a air travel safe gun case to the body of the car.

Stand one of those vertically, butted right up to the rear of the backseat and it just might work. Maybe rig a flap of extended trunk-carpet as pull-down camo.

I've thought on this for a while myself trying to figure out something like thr trunk lid of K's Crown Vic in MIB but never come up with a satisfactory "full-lid box." This might be a better solution, at the cost of having to get all the way to the rear before accessing hardware.

Or maybe line 2-3 across the bottom of the trunk, weapon in one and first-aid/road safety/survival gear in the others, again with trunk carpet on top..

I've had good experience with the truckvault brand as I had one built for an SUV I had years ago and I still use it in certain vehicles. Have also used it at times mounted under the bed as it works quite nicely (it's a pullout to the front drawer-type, not the top open one though).
"Why "zombies"? Because calling it 'training to stop a rioting, starving, panicking, desperate mob after a complete governmental financial collapse apocalypse' is just too wordy." or in light of current events: training to stop a rioting, looting, molotov cocktail throwing, skinny jeans wearing, uneducated bunch of lemmings duped by, or working directly for, a marxist organization attempting to tear down America while hiding behind a race-based name

My thought being top open as opposed to most you see being a slide type drawer. I'd measure the Crown Vic truck and see if any of the truck one would fit. Should still leave plenty of space in front of the safe.

The tray/silverware draw style is really a no go.
I don't want a spare tire flopping around the floor.

I also don't want to take up the floor with an open top tray because that would be bad if I ever put anything in the trunk like a bag.

Got to pull shit out before I can get to a gun?

At that point I might as well take a Plano case and cable tie it to the body somehow and to stow it would stand up against the back in the picture.

I really want to keep a lot of the why I got a crown Victoria to begin with but I need room for a 36" gun.

Is there a vertical something with hooks to hold the gun that I open it it pops up and gun?

How about one of those lockable wall mounts mounted to the trunk lid in some fashion? The ones that secure around the receiver . It's kind of like the rifle and shotgun racks in a squad car, but wraps around the receiver more.

Some squad cars also had overhead racks mounted to the front of the cage. They held the rifles laying flat almost against the roof above the seats. Could something like that be modified to fit the trunk lid?

Then you need a "cover" to hide the gun whenever you pop the trunk to chuck in something else, though. Could work, just get some extra trunk carpet and Velcro.
