Royalty = dictatorship by blood and birth

As requested in other thread on the death of the queen to add a separate threads on the general topic, why anyone cares about the monarchy/royalty from another nation, one we fought a war with to kick the hell out, is a mystery to me. The very term "royalty" makes my skin crawl and always has. Royalty, the term and very concept, the antithesis of everything we are and and stand for, as much if not more so that communism, dictatorship, etc. It's nothing more than (usually inbred...) people who are dictators by blood. I never game a damn about Lady Diana, etc etc. Any 'Murican who cares what the Monarchs of the UK do, is similar the the dumb kid wearing a Che Guevara shirt, a romanticized view of a monster. I recall back in the day every US TV channel covering Charles and Lady Diana wedding, and irked me then too.

I reject the term and concept of royalty as I do communism, socialism, dictatorship, et al, or anything else that's the total opposite of Liberty and Freedom, and no amount of nostalgia will change that.

The current royal family now amounts to a tourist attraction for the Brits and cost their tax payers bigly. I have heard some claim they generate more $ from tourism and related than cost, but I have my doubts. What did "the royals" ever do for the average Brit? It's a mystery to me why they are tolerated at all there, but not my country, not my problem, but again, all seems to come down to wishing for simpler times gone by (which sucked nads for the average Brit under royal rule...) and nostalgia and tradition.

While the royals are now symbolic, they're symbolic of everything we reject and should reject, so and no amount of Disney level princess nonsense and nostalgia will alter that reality.

Yea, I don't like the "royalty" thing either.
That said, I'd be lying if I said I would not like to be a king or dictator, I sure would.

Yup... look at the cult of personality built around American political figures on both sides of the aisle. Look at the following FDR had. Look at how Obama crafted a cult of personality. Hell, look at the most devoted and faithful to Trump. He literally threw his most faithful under the bus after January 6 and folks still go gaga over him even after that and his anti-gun actions of bypassing Congress and stating "take the guns first, due process later."

A lot of people want a Strongman Dictator or Ruler. Why? Because a lot of people don't want to take the time and effort to make important decisions. They'd rather have someone do it for them.

We have royalty in this country, too- look how sports and movie stars are treated. A barely literate basketball player worth hundred of millions of dollars pontificates to the peasantry and the media and millions of peasants fawn over him.

Partially true, but their kids are not going to get the same treatment due being their kids, they did have to work hard to get where they are, they have to perform to their contract to make the $, they make more $ the better their team/franchise does, and various other reasons they have little real resemblance to royalty in any real sense. The mega wealthy are closer.

Not doubting how they got there just making a statement on how they are treated.

I would understand all this if my heritage was UK & the history. I feel for them & they are an ally, but don't get why people in this country & our media have such a fascination with royalty...I swear they act like she was our queen.

The adoration to the point of worship is mind boggling...I'm leaving the news on mute & only tuning in when I walk by & something important is being reported. It's beyond irritating royalty owns our news cycle for DAYS with all the important issues happening.

Seems odd to me they way they are looked at and treated.
We have a British guy working with us and I asked his take on the whole thing.
Seems not all are in a religious fervor with her.
He's old and cranky and when spooled up is kinda entertaining.

I think it’s more not wanting to own the consequences, rather than time and effort.
