Beretta 92FS and Taurus PT92 magazine compatibility.

Both the Beretta 92FS and Taurus PT92 share a common ancestor, the original Beretta Model 92. As such, the magazine shares the same common ancestor too. The one problem is, while Beretta and Taurus both share the same magazine design, the magazine catches are different since both independently moved the magazine catch from the heel to the frame, behind the trigger. As such, neither design works with each other's magazine.

If you're like me, that means you have a Beretta and a Taurus.

I have a pile of magazines for both, but it would be nice to simply have a common magazine that works in either gun. It would mage range trips far easier. Sure, I'm not going to replace every original mag with a universal mag, but having a few does make range trips easier.

Triple K used to make a universal mag, but their quality has always been subpar at best and festering pile of radioactive AIDS at worst. The other option was modified either magazine to work in the other gun. But that sucks and is a pain in the butt.

So, what is a guy to do? Turns out that Wayne Machine Inc. of the Republic of China in New Taipei City makes a pile of magazines for a pile of guns. One of those guns the Type 75 Service Pistol.

A ROC clone of the Beretta 92FS.

So, what does this have to do with the Taurus PT92? Well, since Wayne Machine makes quality magazines for the T75, they happen to export them to Robert's Trading Post and they make them work in both guns from the factory.

I have some on order and when I get them, I'll let you know how they work.

Other than that, I'd love to get a ROC T75, a RSA Z88, and a French PA-MAS G1 in my personal collection since I love the 92 pattern of pistols.

Republic of South Africa, Vektor Z88.

According to Robertson's advertisement on GunsAmerica, "Manufacturer is Wayne Machine Inc. of New Taipei City, Taiwan, Free China. Modifier and exclusive distributor is Robertson Trading Post." So it seems that the modification isn't done at the factory. That makes me wary, but I'm interesting in seeing how they work. Also, I'd love to have one of those Type 75 pistols.

Huh, I though that Robert's was importing them straight from Taiwan and that Wayne Machine was making them from the factory as universal mags.

I know that Wayne Machine lists both Taurus and Beretta mags as products they make. If you go to their main page, and then click on products, you'll see a link for a excel spreadsheet with a entire list of the magazines that they make.

They have two separate part numbers for Beretta and Taurus magazines. "WM0013A - BRETTA 92F MAGAZINE 9MM 15RD BLUE & WM0014A TAURUS MAGAZINE 9MM BLUE 15RD BLUE".

If Robert's is modifying the mags. Well then, that does make me a bit cautious of the quality. I only ordered six of them, so we'll see how they are when they get here.

Well, my mags came in and there was a bit of a mix up. It isn't the universal mags. It is the regular PT92 only mags. Turns out like an goofball, I added the wrong items to the shopping cart and didn't realize. Oh well, the quality is perfect and better than the original factory Taurus made 15rders from back in the day.

I have modified Beretta magazines (from MecGar) so that they work in both a Beretta 92FS and a SIG P226. The cuts are some distance apart and sufficiently different depths that they do not interfere with each other.

In your situation, because the magazines are so close to each other that the cut positions overlap, I'd consider investigating whether a replacement magazine catch for the PT92 can be modified to function with standard Beretta magazines.

You can modify a Taurus magazine catch to work with a PT92.

Personally, I'm not going to do that. I have a pile of mags for both and I was six Berettas but just one Taurus. So honestly, this is more of just a "huh, that's kinda cool."
