Stoeger STR-9 (Glock clone) for $200 delivered

I like Glocks and I like a good deal. When I ran across this Stoeger STR-9 at Botach for $200 plus tax delivered, I was tempted. After I watched a few YouTube videos which were mostly positive, I decided to pull the trigger. The STR-9 is basically a Glock clone. It's made in Turkey and imported by Stoeger Industries. It's slightly bigger than a Glock 19. It has three dot sights, a metal 15rd magazine, a dust cover rail, large slide serrations and a metal guide rod. The overall quality appears to be right up there with the Glock that it's cloned from. I actually like the more rounded shape of the slide versus the typical Glock. As you'd expect for this price, it came in a cheap cardboard box with a manual, safety lock and magazine loader. Of course if it doesn't function reliably, it's not a good deal at any price. I'll give it a run and let y'all know how it performs.

That's a great deal. I'm curious as to your reporting with it.

Good company and I couldn't think of a better new firearm that meets the glove box standard.

Wow. Takes guts to try an FFL transaction from Botach.

Definitely no on the magazine. These are metal. I don't know about the sights.

When it comes to buying guns, I'm as brave as they come. In 2015 I tried to buy a Beretta ARX100 factory SBR from them for $1,200. They were a disorganized bunch of idiots, so they never completed the transaction. Two years later they had the same rifle listed for $900, so I figured I'd try again. That time it went through without any issues. They saved me $300. I've purchased three other guns from them. One was a Beretta PX4 Storm that was supposed to come with five magazines. It didn't arrive with them, but to their credit they did ship them without issue.

Bought some parts recently from Botach - totally good, and NO ONE had the El Zion alloy light mount which is WAY cool and too good. Just bought some M&P mags and when PayPal went fail, they called me AND emailed for the CC and got them to me in a rush. I think there is new management, and $200 isn't real bravery. LOL.

    Maybe even low risk.

Can anyone clarify whether it uses Glock mags? I understand it comes with a different metal mag.

Maybe... If you're willing to just let it go. I remember them shipping me 10mm glock mags when I ordered AR mags. I just sold them and basically broke even, but it was funny how wrong they could get an order.

I played with them when Stoeger unveiled them at SHOT Show 2019. It was an okay budget priced gun and would do fine for the casual gun owner, thd type of person that buys a gun and throws it in the sock drawer after a box of FMJ. It would serve fine in a home defense role for that type of person.
