    FN's "FN-15" rifle

This particular rifle was FN's equivalent to the Colt AR-15A4, and was discontinued several years ago. As far as I can tell, Plain-Jane A4-type rifles continue to sell fairly briskly. So was this model not very profitable for FN compared to their other offerings?

Well, yeah, since this was discontinued years ago.

Seems every time FN gets mentioned there is a dramatic difference between how they build rifles for the military and rifled for the commercial market. Which kind of sucks because when they came out with the semi autos I really wanted one.

I have one. I bought it in 2014 and after replacing the handguards and BCG with Colt I’m very happy with it. The handguards that came with it were the cheap, commercial flavor of A2 handguards. A set of Colt’s fixed that. There was nothing wrong with the BCG per se, but I wasn’t impressed with the gas key staking so I threw in a spare Colt and it’s been a solid rifle. I paid $999 for it back then.

I think what killed this rifle off was the release of the M-16A4 military collector model. After that, I don’t think this one sold all that well.

    Is yours an HBAR configuration?

I wondered about that since FN's product description says "Heavy Barrel, Button-broached, chrome-lined".

They did at one point make an HBAR contour rifle with a Samson rail I believe, but it too has been DC’d

I have always wanted their Military version with KAC H-guards. My LGS had one for $1,400 and it took everything I had to NOT buy it. Great price for a great base AR, but how many AR's does a brother need. Maybe next time.
