They are cut downs of original G3 stock sets (except the 91 obviously), but not mine. Some guys are doing some pretty cool mods over on HK Pro. That said, I have seen pictures of very early MP5s with factory wood hand guards and old style (stamped buttplate) slide stocks.

I wonder how that will handle the heat over time. I'd round off the end a bit and use a darker stain but it looks sharp.

Took it out today for the first time. About 150 rounds down range and it ran perfect. I have the one with the 8 inch barrel. it really is so much smoother than my scorpion. Really love the gun.

I've had good luck with my Ap5. I've also been looking at the MAD Enhanced Bolt Head they sell on HKparts. It looks like a much beefier system. A little pricey but if it works as good as some say I might bite.

I know people like to drop a bucket load of aftermarket doodads into proven weapon systems, but that is one I'd leave alone. First I doubt anyone is making a more durable or more reliable bolt head than a HK contract factory and second the existing spec is a result of decades of R&D.

This won't be like dropping a BCM BCG into an AR, I don't think you will gain anything with that MAD bolt head and you are probably going to lose some advantage in reliability and function.

Not sure if MKE is using "F" bolts or not, but that would be the only true upgrade.

I must have watched 100 youtube vids on how great the MP/SP/AP are and had literally no idea about the extractor spring issue until this guy. Seriously a 500 round life span? Other than going with something like the MAD bolt head what are the work around's, 10mm springs?

Shitty clones maybe, not factory springs. My 1984 date factory MP5 is still on the original extractor spring and I guarantee you we passed 500 rounds decades ago.

I think this guy misread 5,000 for 500 someplace or confused replace with "detail strip and clean" after 500 rounds. I usually break down my bolt head for a detail strip and clean once a year which is about 2,500 round give or take. Eventually one of these days I'll have to replace that factory spring. I bought 5 spares in the late 1990s so they are waiting and ready.

I think I'm still on my original HK SP89 extractor spring from around 1989, with several thousand rounds through it. The only thing I've had to change is the older style roller retainer plate (when those little nubs shear off). I have quite a few spares so I never upgraded to the newer spring style retainer.

Just goes to show that ANYONE can start a YT channel and spout off any kind of nonsense they wish. I too have participated in subgun matches and used to frequently use my MP5 for all of my shooting clubs and competitions so I guess that makes me an expert on everything related to firearms as well.

I would start a YT channel but I just can't take myself seriously enough to presume to educate everyone on the internet. I actually understand why a lot of the SME guys got sick of trying and gave up.

I bought a threaded UZI barrel from BWE Firearms that won't feed 147gr FMJ's reliably. My factory barrel feeds all 147gr FMJ's 100% reliably. Richard told me that it's an exact copy of the factory barrel because they copied it exactly from factory drawings. Perhaps, but comparing it to an IMI factory barrel that I have, it's plain to see that the feed ramp area of the factory barrel is significantly different. I spoke to him about it and he is certainly knowledgeable about Uzi's, but in this particular case he's just wrong. To his credit, he did offer me my money back. Ultimately, I decided to keep the barrel and modify the feed ramp myself as nobody else offers the same threaded barrel.
