    HK 33

Back in March, while discussing with my favourite LGS, he pulled out this full auto rifle from the safe.

It’s a former Geneva airport police issue rifle. As a kid I remember seeing those airport policemen with mighty looking machine guns slung across their chest, though I was way too young to identify them. They also had MP5s.

He mentioned it came with plenty of mags, we haggled a bit and agreed on $ 1900 for the lot, in conjunction with other toys I bought from him, like the M14 and M2. It took a while to organise permits, funds etc.. but its home now as well.

I gave it a quick try / shakedown at the 50 m range, in semi auto only for now

Paired with the semi auto only HK 93

Be cautious as you mix and match buttstocks.

They made two distinct buffer systems. One with a buffer on the back of the bolt and one with a buffer on the front plate of the stock. If you run a non buffered bolt with a non buffered stock it will punch out the stock plate. The 33 is very different from the MP5 in this regard.

The MP5 style stock (no collar) is the non buffered stock, probably going to want to find an A2 stock with a metal attachment collar. I think all sliding stocks have a recoil buffer system.

First of all, we all f$&:ing hate you ;-)

Second, very nice find. I hope you have plenty of full auto fun in Switzerland. That rifle would go for +30-40k USD if it was a pre-May 86 sample. Probably more

Hate this post, envy my brother, and he spent the morning telling me to get one. In 2023 Turkish made version are going to be coming to market? Anyway that was the rumor mill from him. Lastly I must confess to the sin of envy today. Lol I really like the AR-15, but second to that is the HK for me.

Fantastic! Our only hope is some Turkish guns that are supposed to come in. Amazing catch.

Nice. What’s the barrel twist? I had an HK93 and I think it was 1/12.

If stamped 178 it's a 1:7, if not it's a 1:12. Almost ALL 93s were 1:12 with the exception of a few UK HK 33 barrels that weren't selling well so some were brought back to Germany, grenade rings removed and a flash hider perm mounted to the 15.5" barrel to make them importable to the US. Those typically had 1:7 barrels but very few were actually imported.

$1900 for a registered auto HK??? That thing should sell for $15000 or more. I know someone who sold a HK51 for $20000.

He’s in Switzerland, where absolutely nothing happened in 1986.
