Let's say you were building a walk in gun vault room.

Consider it to be more of a dual purpose entertainment room / gun vault. You can assume it will be secure and constructed with slat wall all around for display and storage of rifles and pistols. It will be a nice room, not a utility room and won't be suitable for cleaning guns or gunsmith-like activities. It will be climate controlled and suitable for storing rifles and pistols out in the open.

What are some things or features you'd want included in the room? Maybe you already have one, what do you wish you did differently or would have done and didn't?

A bed or a huge couch because I will be sleeping there sometimes.

It's one of the things I always wanted but just never happened. I hate that guns have to be in safes, they really belong on display or at least in racks. But the house I ended up in is sort of a split level so it isn't gonna happen, but at least I have windows in the basement.

Also with I had a room for all of my WWI / WWII shit on display.

I have a very modest one. No where near as swanky as that. It’s a closet with a bookcase for a door. Firearms are on an aluminum slat wall. Door has a manual and remote lock. Firearms are secured with cables and biometric padlocks. We were broken into once, and as I was walking the officer through the house he asked if I had any firearms stolen. I showed him my setup and was thoroughly impressed. It’s pretty much maxed as far as capacity. If I move all the ammo out I could add another section of racks.

I don't worry about theft anywhere as I do fire cuz my house burnt down when I was a kid & dad lost all his...I would be looking into chingos of added drywall / fireproofing from main structure to give first responders some added time.

Guns don't have to be in safes if the room is a safe.

I never said I was building anything, this is all a hypothetical exercise for fun.

I like the other suggestions. Would a nice soft leather chair suffice instead of a couch?

I'll have to do some research on fireproofing, but being a Navy trained fire fighter, you can bet your sweet arse I'd be in there keeping my guns safe above all else.

What about organization? Shotguns together? Bullpups together? Sort by brand? IE: All HK's together? Or mix it up?
