Gov. DeSantis claims FL is a 2A State. Guns banned at his own event.

The Governor will be in the Gainesville area on Thursday, October 20 for the 20th Ronald Reagan Black Tie & Blue Jeans BBQ. The event is being held on public property and the event host, the Alachua County Republican Party is hosting it.

They told attendees that they can't have their guns and they will go through security.

The County Party Chair said that if they allow guns at the event, DeSantis will pull out.

This isn't the first time DeSantis has banned guns at his events.

In FL, you cannot ban firearms in a public space per state statute. The location is a public space and there is no law stating that FDLE can't just declare areas to be gun free zones because of the governor.

You mean the Governor who for three years stayed mum on Second Amendment Issues in FL and didn't back Constitutional Carry for the three years it was actually introduced in the Republican controlled Legislature?

Yeah, this is an issue specifically because of STATE LAW. GUNS CAN'T BE BANNED FROM PUBLIC SPACES DUE STATE PREEMPTION LAWS.
