I've learned that Beretta's typically have generous bore diameters. The purpose is often guessed that it's to reduce pressures for longevity and increase reliability with low-quality ammo.
I found lots of guys using cast .358 dia. bullets. So, get the right shaped bullet and fire it from your .38's, .357's, and some 9x19's.
And yes, I found other chronograph tests reporting sluggish velocities compared to other standard-design bores of similar length.
I measured the groove dia of my pistol and found it was .365.
I pulled and measured a Critical Duty bullet and as expected got .355.

This ammo averaged just under 1100 fps from my AP5P.
My Beretta had an oversized bore (grooves) apparently. It shoots everything slower than comparable-length barrels. This one more than others.
However, it shoots accurately from both guns. 4-inch 5-shot groups free-hand at 25 yds with irons from the Beretta Centurion 4.25 in. I didn't measure groups from the RDS-equipped AP5P but they were considerably tighter.
