It's not rocket science - you have a RDS, your target is a long way away, say 400-600 yards - I'd start with aiming at the head or slightly over to get some COM hits on it, then adjust (I'm a 100yd zero guy).

I just think the concept of dialing a RDS is less than ideal, especially since most RDS guns are compact / SBR types so you are going to be fighting bullet velocity as well.

I'm sure it fits some entities desires, but not mine.

This is for increased first time hit probability in the field... not for you to plink at the range and make enough kentucky windage to make a hit.

There's an application for everything, including "outdated" red dots.

This is just a tool in a toolbox. It's a very specialized tool none the less.

Not sure why you think they are outdated, but oh well.

Good thing they can bring a LRF and wind measurement tool to dial it in...

Never heard of it but as an Aimpoint fanboy m'seff I'm gonna delve into this.

I have cranked an Aimpoint up for 500 yard shooting and found it a very, very worthwhile experiment that left me wishing for some teeny-weeny knobs for easy dialing-up/ But then if you add knobs and/or put in 6 dots for everything from 1-600 yds., it's probably no longer an Aimpoint. I mean an Aimpointed carbine maybe ain't suppose to be a 500-yard gun but.... if you were going to be shooting 500 and only 500 all day, it'd be pretty convenient to just dial it up ~28 clix.

There is just a 6 position dial on top that is calibrated to different bullet weights !
