Tangential. This guy has a great Chanel on all things Chinese as boots on the ground from a foreigners POV who lived there. After leaving, he continues to be hassled by the CCP etc:

No different from the cuban missile crisis. They tried to plant weapons too close to the USA and we nipped that crap in the bud promptly.

I hope that Taiwan had the foresight to purchase tactical nuclear weapons from the Israeli's or someone,
cause they better not depend on the FUSA.

May be goofy graphics, but the most detailed summary of what China would face attempting to take the island. That channel really does their homework:

They actually have a homegrown nuclear program that they put on pause but IIRC keep ready to spin back up, and if push met shove I bet Japan and South Korea both would pick them up and help carry them across the finish line. (Though not Nuclear Club, Japan IIRC has most of the precursors well mastered and by themselves could probably Go Bang within a year of deciding it's Game Time. South Korea similar, and they might even be good enough to make one fit into those neat AGM-84H SLAM cruise missiles we sold them along with specially built Strike Eagles to deliver 'em.)
