I'm not buying it. A bird or drone strike didn't significantly change the speed or trajectory of the aircraft The plausible reason for this is outlined in that most recent video (preliminary NTSB report) and it sounds like a colossal screw up by the air boss and the planning of the whole thing.
His earlier video explaining how this happened along with the updated why it happened are good to watch and very frustrating.
He pinned this comment which just adds to the frustration,
"Juan, just to give some further context to your excellent reporting, the Air Boss was brand new. This was his first air show as the "Air Boss" and is the son of the former air boss who had retired the year before after a lengthy career as the Wings over Dallas Air Show air boss. According to pilots that were in the briefing prior to the show that day, they report that the briefing was lacking in various substantive and vital information such as altitude deconfliction yet no one including a FAA representative that was in attendance raised any concern about the inadequatenes of the briefing by this new air boss."
The pilots of these warbirds are more often than not extremely experienced. It's really hard not to think complacency at every level from all parties involved led to this.

And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984
Step Dad went to Craig's (63 pilot) celebration of life last week & said it was a really big turn out within the community...I mentioned the air boss deal & he said there really wasn't any consensus trying to point fingers / lay blame on the incident. Craig worked for the Continental airline group for over 30 years & was the Check Pilot for not only the regular pilots, but also the Check Pilot of the other Check Pilots. Just an extremely talented & knowledgeable individual. Craig's wife isn't taking the whole loss very well & still nothing planned to date for a formal service. All the 17 crew have been formally laid to rest.
Step Dad is also in Las Vegas right now at the International Council of Air Shows & just finished setting up the Tora Tora booth.

As a pilot myself, I take YouTube analysis with a serious grain of salt. Juan is better than many (aka Dan Gryder) but still, he’s not equipped with the same tools as the real investigators. And if there really was a concern about the briefing, any of the pilots could speak up. This is serious business and the safety culture around airshows is huge.
No argument & just sharing 411...like stated before, Craig was very vocal in the safety pre flight meetings & hammered safety on maintaining height requirements. My stepdad won't come out say it publicly but I really feel he's convinced it's a health / instrument issue with the 63 vs anything else. Good thing is there was no blame throwing within the tight community he is seeing.
