In principle, it’s a hybrid between AR-18/180 recoil system and AR-15 gas operation. I recall the original MCX had high cyclic rate issues and never read how that has been solved in current gen rifles. I’d hazard a guess that this will have similar characteristics with the lower mass and necessary spring rates. The longevity of this system will be interesting as more data comes in from users. It’s kind of how the firearms industry seems these days; the customers are the beta testers.
On another note, there’s this article, from The Firearm Blog, on Bufferless BCGs from Evolution Weapon Systems published a few years back. I wonder if there’s any relation?
