    I perhaps missed the "right thing to do". What was the right thing?

    For DIY'ers who either mark with pencil or have a jig, and a Ryobi cordless with a Skill drill bit, best to skip F'n up the barrel, just get gas port aligment pegs and use knurled set screws. No mess'n around with drills, jigs, pencils, etc.
