It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
Chuck, we miss ya man.

Now the turds want your gas furnaces, too. Zero shits given on cost impact to the people or whether they freeze to death when the power goes out in the winter.

These people are completely out of touch. In my world we don't even have gas. Our three choices are electric, wood, or heating oil. Heating oil saves me about 30% over electric for heating. I wish I could get gas and save even more money. I'd really like electricity that costs 1/4 what it does now and we could talk. Build me a nuclear reactor or STFU.
Yeah. I've had a lot of combustion furnaces: oil, natural gas, propane. The newer high efficiency gas/propane models work fine, and actually make exhaust piping much easier because the exhaust gas is so cool you can use PVC pipe.
The downsides are small. It won't work without electricity, the ignitors wear out after 5 years or so - but is a cheap and easy to replace part, and the exhaust vent can get plugged with snowdrifts or in blizzards, so it has to be shoveled out if you're in a severe snow area. (This only really applies if you get lake effect or mountain snow.) All pretty small. We have a purely mechanical wood stove for backup heat.
The attempt to outlaw gas cooktops is BS, but the rule on furnaces looks like a mountain out of a molehill.
