I have the pump and the thing I like about it most is the size/ profile. I was tempted to brace it when I first got it but plenty of practice, a few mods, and careful ammo selection and experimenting showed me that it is plenty capable and more handy without.

I also want the semi auto. Remarms still lists it but they are rare in the wild and now we have to wait and see if they are going to be made well and supported with parts.

Mossberg makes what amounts to a pump version and it seems useless to me. The semi auto version with an RDS, seems a potential winner to me.

May I ask what type sling you have on the 870?

The question will be whether it also works on a 1301 Comp. It seems like everything that comes out is for the Tactical model, which has a different bolt pattern on the top of the receive. Us 1301 Comp guys look on with jealousy.

This exact thing has crossed my mind several times recently. It used to be common place for many in my department to take out a shotgun for patrol that has since changed to almost exclusively the rifle. We have swayed away from shotguns so much that many question the need to qualify on it every year as it is starting to feel novel. I think there is a place for shotguns, mainly for breaching. There is just something to be said about the universal sound of one being racked that stops people in their tracks. Also I think if you wanted a truck gun, a shotgun is better suited for this due to their low cost for a basic pump action compared to a decked out rifle (of course with proper locks to slow down would be criminals).

Hard to beat a single 12 ga buckshot pattern hit at stopping power within that range. Like HD.

    .556 can't do it.
