As I mentioned above I've also moved toward the Slingster, someone was telling I should check out Flatline Fiber slings, that they are similar to the Slingster but with plastic hardware instead of a metal tensioner like on the Ferro sling.

It’s hard to go wrong with slings right now, other than the LMT 2-point, which is pretty much trash comparatively.

    BFG VCAS
    BFG VCAS padded
    BFG GMT *has a tail
    Beez Sling (padded)
    ESD
    FCD
    Proctor
    Defense Mechanisms (add pad)
    Geissele Super 1.25”
    WPS bungee (small SBR only)

With a padded VCAS as “standard,” I’m becoming partial to the Geissele. I’ll put some of the others up for sale at some point. It’s hard to go wrong.

Ones I don’t have but look good:

    Flatline Defense
    SierraTac
Ferro Slingster (but those metal buckles…)
    Armageddon Gear maybe
    S2Delta (arriving Friday)

I used VTAC slings for about a decade. Great sling. A couple years ago I switched to the Vickers sling as I like not having the excess sling hanging off. In the past Ive had it partially catch on stuff when inside buildings. Ill have to check out these Ferro slings though.

I prefer the Vickers sling for the simple reason that I like the webbing better. I have a couple of both and the Vtac seems to 'slinky' to me.

I've tried both. I don't like the Vickers at all. I'm not crazy about the VTAC either, but what I really like about it is that it has enough range of adjustment to really tighten the rifle down to your body if you need to, but I don't like the tail hanging off of it. For the past several years I've used Magpul MS4 slings and like them better than either the VTAC or VCAS. I wish they had a wider range of adjustment, but I guess that's the price you pay for having that slider type mechanism. I've heard a lot of people talk about the Slingster. Maybe I should check it out. Also someone mentioned Flatline Fiber above. I haven't tried their sling, but I recently picked up one of their dump pouches. It's the first one I've tried that I like, so maybe I should look at their sling too.

VTAC is good for heavier rifles. Slingster has been my go to as of late. It’s lighter and thinner. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the sliding adjustment piece rubs on my rifle and mars it up a bit. But whatever, rifle is not a safe queen.

Both are excellent designs and light years ahead of those 3 point mousetraps that were in vogue from the 80s to the 90s.

I prefer the Vickers to the Viking simply because I don't have time to velcro down those loose floppy extensions and they work on my OCD. For guys in combat the Viking sling is probably faster and more stable because you don't have the luxury of being OCD.

If I had to, I could use either one with no appreciable difference in performance so just go with what fits you best.

I grew up making A2 style "adjustable" slings work during transitional stage shooting, if you can do that, modern Vickers or Viking slings feel like cheating.

And yeah, V-Tac has better adjust mechanism. I seemed to use V-Tac for heavier carbines/rifles.
The Vickers were/are used for lighter guns. I seem to use Ferro Concepts slings recently.
I'm a fan of the vickers 221 even though never liked him. Have two of the ferro concepts but don't like the padding, prefer the straight slim line of the 221
