    I would buy that.

I seem to recall discussion that the FAL might have first been intended to use 8x33.

Agreed, i've always loved the look of the STG44, and would be fun to have one in it's original caliber. Curious what the price will be

Yes, Blake Steven's FAL book showed pictures of the 1st FAL in 8mm short.

Yep, unfortunately NATO decided 7.62x51 was gonna be the way. I think the .280 British that they developed for the EM-2 rifle was closer to ideal and would have made for a soft shooting FAL.

I generally find it amusing of the "new wonder calibers" Then you look at the 8mm Kurtz and .280 British, and people act like something was invented. Then we have 9mm rocking it still. I'm surprised folks haven't worked 8mm subs, etc. Then the whole M1/M14, especially M14 waste of time-shortest ever issued gun? The M1 was more of a benefit to us AT THE TIME, then the so called replacement or "upgrade"

You guys remember PSA bought that steel cased ammo factory to US produce 7.62x39, maybe they could also make 8mmK, a reliable source of reasonably priced ammo would be sweet. One of these chambered in 7.62x39 just seems wrong, these guns were made to kill commies not eat their ammo.

Don’t forget that most ancient of cartridges that made the leap from black to smokeless, with a modern 25* shoulder, reasonable length, capacity for modern slow powders, and enough headroom for heavy VLDs….6.5x55, 13 decades in.

A little bigger diameter but Q is doing the 8.6 Blackout for subsonic use.

Technically it's still "in service" in some roles.

As a standard rifle, 5 years, which was even less than the 12 years the Krag was in service.
