Steiner P4xi "OPMOD" from Optics Planet?

Is anyone familiar with "OPMOD" branded optics from Optics Planet? I've had mixed experiences with Optics Planet in the past, but just came across a P4xi they are offering with the older P3TR reticle for $499.

Looking around this is way less than the ~$800 price tag at every other place I've seen them.

The only catch is that it's apparently some "Optics Planet only" offering.

The only thing I can see is that it's FDE and it has "OPMOD: Optics Planet Limited Edition" written on it.

    Google isn't showing me anything.

Has anyone heard of these or have any first hand experience?

That is a great price, I'm wondering if they are discontinuing it and getting rid of old stock.

I would see what OpticsPlanet return policy is, buy it and if it just doesn't feel right try and return it. At that price I might even try to do that, even though I have no real need for a 1-4x at this moment.

I have one, it is indeed only FDE with OPMOD printed on it. It's the same thing as my other P4Xi

Thats a nice price, and I think the old version is better than the new one.

That's interesting.. I'm reading the two product pages and I can't tell if it's just inconsistency from their web design team or not, but the $800 one says made in USA and includes batteries.

There may be more differences, but those are the first two that immediately stood out to me.

Description says P3TR reticle. I just used their chat feature on the website. The CS representative didn't really know what the difference was, but after a few minutes got back to me and said the product specialist told her the $800 version comes with a "magnification doubler".

I haven't heard that term before but assume it's just an extra magnifier?

I’d bet there’s a reason Trybe doublers aren’t well known as good to go. Starting with that name.

90% sure Trybe is OP's in house name, just like Expo Arms is PA's. OPMOD is just their partnership with "name brand" optics companies that they make FDE and can buy in bulk to lower the price.
