Getting back into an AR10....reviews seem good on both. One is a true AR10, so I know the difference of the SFAR.
Cost is similar, a few upgrades to the DEF10 would be done.
It’s going to be one of these, help me decide gents.

Are you going to carry it a lot? If so, I think the short frame 308 gas guns are a good choice. Bench shooting, full size is pretty well sorted out.

Yes, it’ll be carried 12-16 miles here in the Rockies in the summer and hunting season.
Guess I’m curious, from a more experienced user than myself which is likely to serve me better in such a rugged environment - I was leaning Armalite.

Another option is the POF Revolution.
I don't have any experience with the Ruger, but the Armalite is very handy and accurate enough out to 500 yards.
I free-floated this 16-incher with a 9-inch Larue rail (now discontinued, I'd use an SLR today). I shot out that barrel and went to a slightly heavier Criterion. In hind-sight I probably should have just got another thin "M14 profile" barrel.

Nope. They're just M14 mags with a slot and different follower.
Armalite.

Go with the Armalite, I got a tac16, been reliable for 700 rounds and shoots consistent 1.5 in 5 shot groups with fgmm 168 and 175. Ive had several 1 in groups with the 175s but nothing smaller, and like i said only a few 1 in mostly hovers between 1.4 to 1.6 in groups.
Most other ammos hang around 2 moa with m80 around 4.
