We've had Concealed Carry since 1987. That's also when the Open Carry was banned in FL.

I remember when fighting for concealed carry licenses in Alaska (1993-94)we made a point of pointing out that FL's CCW license did not negatively effect gun violence in any way. It's ironic today that FL can't even get real constitutional carry in place despite nearly half of U.S. states now allowing totally permitless carry without issues. Keep up the good fight.

Representative Eskamani (D) introduced Amendment 642477 as a way to call out the hypocrisy of Florida's Republican Lawmakers. Currently, under State Law, you cannot carry at "any meeting of the Legislature or a committee". Meaning any chamber in the capitol when there is a committee meeting occurring.





To paraphrase were debate on the House Floor, she basically said "you Republicans claim that guns make us safer, right? Well, then people should be able to carry here, right now. If it is good for the goose good for the gander. Put up or shut up."

It was killed via a voice vote. Being a Republican Supermajority, Democrats don't have the numbers to kill anything. Which means, Republicans voted against repealing a gun free zone.
