What thread locker for pistol optic?

I've used loc-tite blue a few times on pistol optics with good results.

But recently I had one come loose. I didn't try to get into the holes with alcohol to remove the factory oils prior to installation, just the screws, so maybe I just got sloppy.

    I noticed during a post-range inspection.

Should I be using Loc-tite red or some other product?

I use blue, I suppose an argument could be made for purple. I would not use red.

I agree. You don't need to degrease anything. Great stuff.

I've had success re-installing with Blue using thorough surface prep on fasteners and holes. I still hope some day there will be an acceptable mounting standard for these sight systems. What we're stuck with now isn't good enough.

This so the correct answer as it’s more shock/vibration resistant than loctite.

I've used VibraTite a lot. I've never been that trilled with it. Not sure that I've had it let me down, but when I've removed fasteners, the ease of removal was a little troubling.

Blue is all I have used. Rockset has not done well but I think I let it get old and it lost its umph. Also, some plates you squeeze the optic in so the best glue is not critical, others the only thing holding it in is screws with zero support.

That is one issue with Sigs new “drilled for both optic mounts”, the optic is held with just screws, no support from slide.
