FL Const Carry State Bill Passes

    FYI:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 543 into law Monday, which will allow Floridians to carry a concealed firearm without the need for a permit.

The governor’s office confirmed DeSantis’ signing to News 6, releasing a photo of the event. In the photo, the governor is flanked by several state leaders and members of law enforcement, including Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. News 6 has reached out to Ivey’s office for comment. This story will be updated if we receive a response.

Under the new law, people can now carry concealed firearms without going through background screening and training that is currently required to have a concealed carry license. However, those carrying concealed guns must still have valid IDs with them.

I have not read the details of the bill yet, but "on paper" so far so good. Brandon admin already crying about it.

Permitless concealed carry... not constitutional carry. The get asterisk next to their entry like North Dakota because it's really not constitutional carry until it covers all types of carry and allows non-residents.

While it is a step in the right direction, this is the fact of matter.

Thankfully these new laws aren't dramatically changing reciprocity with other states.

I'm pretty sure every one of the states that instituted constitutional carry kept their permit processes as well (except for Vermont). I keep my CCW license for the NICS exemption and reciprocity with 37 states.

Yup. Keeping my CCW despite both states I live in being permitless carry. Maybe I'm wrong but aren't most "Constitutional carry" laws for residents only? So travelers gotta have a permit? Honestly I only pay attention to the reciprocal agreements. So I don't really know. Reciprocity basically covers the same states for me, plus some, so I haven't dug into it.

Either way, I'll be buried with my CCW just in case.

I see no reason not to keep my CCW. At one time I had MA (primary), NH, ME, FL, and UT. Now I just have FL as primary since leaving the NE. With CCW I don't need to worry about reciprocal agreements.
