Here are some comparison shots of the PSA rear sight and block compared to one from my demil MAK.

As with other items on the gun, PSA seems to have tried to get pretty darned close to the Chinese rather than use whatever blocks are on the GF3, AK103, etc. At least I assume that's the case. Maybe PSA has been using a Chinese inspired block all along.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Pretty close in overall style and shape. Note the rather lousy job of flaring the gas tube lever. A combination of poor attention to detail at PSA during final assembly and then a lack of patience and proper tools on my end. Just FYI a ball bearing and a vice work better for flaring than a punch and hammer....

The rear sight leaf looks like a cheap cast toy part.

    Pretty sure it is MIM.

It would probably look less cheesy with white paint in the numbers.

I looked at the PSA website and these are listed as "SOVIET ARMS TYPE 56 - BLONDE", not Chinese Type 56. Maybe splitting hairs but I wonder why that is? The spiker version is out of stock, which is what I'd want if given my druthers. Of course I need another gun like an extra hole in the head but ya know how the bug gets ya!

    Nice piece BTW.

    Question for anyone reading this:

Would you rather have the PSA weapon mentioned in this thread or a Zastava ZPAPM70?

Of course common sense dictates "BOTH!" but if you had to choose.

Probably due to the 1.5mm receiver, so technically a Type 56.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

While the ZPAPM70 is a bit heavier, I'd probably get that before a PSA. Probably the better made of the two.

Yeah I'm guessing the spiker will outsell the non-spiker by a pretty wide margin. It offers the more unique rifle. The non-spiker is not really much different than a WASR or GF4 or whatever.

The gun is marked as Soviet Arms as the manufacturer and not Palmetto State. I believe these are sort of a "custom shop" gun. More of a limited production type of deal rather than a standard cataloged item.

This would probably be the better move. The ZPAP stuff does seem to have an occasional QC problem. PSA seems to have more.
