Incredibly BAD idea, probably a CoC violation and a really good way to go from the good guy where the evidence at the scene supports your testimony to the guy who poorly falsified evidence and staged a crime scene. Even if the shoot turns out to be good, you are still toast for several felonies and will never be allowed to lawfully own firearms ever again.

Ranks right up there with the "if you have to shoot somebody...drag them inside your home before the police get there" advice that MAYBE would have actually worked way back in 1952.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

LOL, that would probably be safer than shoot them with a different / crappy gun rather than give them the SBR setup you actually used.

If someone breaks into my home with intentions of personal harm not property theft, the last thing I'm worrying about using/not using a particular gun to survive the assault. In my case a suppressed 10.5" Noveske with a light, while the rest of the family has their personal favorites all suppressed. Family lives in GA with Castle Doctrine, we're upstairs armed with a plan, shooting from an elevated position on a chokepoint stairwell after turning on all the lights downstairs to illuminate the intruders.

Even have a programmed scene on my iPhone for Apple Home, "hey Siri intruder scene", Turns on lights, TV's, Alarm Panic Mode (simplisafe send police) and Cameras on downstairs, locks all doors and plays repeating warning through downstairs speakers. We get camera feed on phones and know exactly what's happening below us.

Probably overkill, but this site pushes preparation right?

    Everything is an SBR now.

That handgun is going to be an SBR in 5 years.

If within 5 years all handguns are viewed as a SBR, it will definitely be game on. So I doubt very much that will happen. It's going to be kind of funny to watch the "non compliant arm brace roundup."

SBH, you heard it here first

The value of a gun is the least of my concerns in a life threatening situation.

There are a lot of cops who are against carrying their own personal AR15 because they don't want it getting seized if they are in a shooting. The first chance I had to dump the department long gun and carry my own I did so. I strongly prefer a personal weapon over a pool gun, or even over a department issued long gun.
    Stick
