I have both but only newly acquired. The grip of the P-30 is changeable so that's a plus but, the standard trigger of the USP is just a little better. P-30 mags are 17 round, 15 for the USP. I wish they were interchangeable. With limited experience, I like the USP a little better. Time will tell.

Still own both. Prefer the rail of the P30 because it accepts most modern weapon lights and it seems the UTL stopped being updated years ago.

Ergos, honestly I don't even notice that crap. I shoot the USP as well as the P30, I suppose I like the larger control levers of the USP because they are a more significant grip surface. The decocker on the back face of the slide on the P30 still freaks me out to this day. The slimline paddle mag release of the P30 is harder to engage than on the USP.

Mags on the P30 are metal bodies vs plastic and a higher capacity so that's gonna probably be a plus in everyone's book.

The P30 is probably not as rugged, but seems to be doing just fine regardless and is more affordable so I think most would prefer the P30. If the P30 were available back in 1994 at the same price and with the same rail as the USP, I'd have bought the USP. If I were buying one or the other today, I'd skip the USP.

I was issued my first HK, a USP40 Fullsize back in the late ‘90’s & I liked it so much I bought it when I retired. Also bought USP9 & USP45 Fullsize and a couple Mark 23 pistols. I like them, not much that can go wrong with them and they fit my hand(s) perfectly.

I don't remember when Glock came out with their rail. There where clamp on lights for 1911s for LAPD SWAT and Surefire put out a bolt on rail for the M9.

It was on the Gen 3 Glock in 1998.

Now way back in 1983 my father bought a flashlight on a bungee cord that attached to Ruger security six, but not really the same thing as a dedicated accessory rail.

Since my birthday and Father's Day are coming up, I took the plunge and put a USP 9mm (4.25 inch barrel) on layaway. Comes with three mags and night sights.

And you want one of these kinds of holsters if you are gonna carry it.

Thank you for posting that Blackhawk holster! I've been semi seriously looking for a holster that'll hold my USP9 with a TLR-1HL. Added bonus is that it should also hold my G34.5 with a TLR-1HL. And G47...

I feel like the P30 is the new HK GOAT 9mm. But there are so many good guns it becomes preference. I'm sure glad I have a couple P30's in the stable. Variety is the spice of life.

The only thing I don't like about the P30 is it's a tad small to me, but that's weird because I can shoot P7s with zero problems. The USP was a great gun for me because I was coming from 10 years of carrying a SIG P226 and they were damn near the same size, only problem is the controls were reversed and I had to pay serious attention to that.
