If only they had cars with a gas generator built into them…

We could market this idea!!! Imagine not dealing with the fragile battery and all the environmental damage it takes to make and dispose of these nasty things.

I like this application of a range extender:

Gas turbine generator. Doesn’t weigh much, takes up little space, but makes quite a bit of power for its size. Turbines are not great for efficiency at varying loads, but at constant speed they’re pretty impressive…. like spinning away turning a generator.

That will surely appeal to the ultra hyperwoke types. It will have to be a diesel generator that uses hempseed oil though.

There are lots of claims the diesel engine's ability to run on oil from hemp was the main focus of the war on weed.

Similar claims that the war on alcohol was due to the petroleum industry having by product gasoline they wanted to sell also.

I'd equate that to having about the same veracity as most of the 'Reefer Madness' propaganda. An acre of hemp only produces about 22 gallons of hempseed oil and it is far more valuable as a food oil and for paint production than it is for fuel. There are several vegetable oils that would be more cost effective as fuel for a diesel engine. If you think diesel has gotten expensive; a gallon of unrefined, cold pressed hemp seed oil will run you about $55/gallon. There may be a slight discount if you buy in bulk.

My buddy runs his HMMWV on used vegetable oil from the deep fryer sometimes, it runs like shit and smell like French fries cruising down the road but it makes it to the next diesel station.
