Some pretty cool 1911 pics in this article.

I'd love to see what that Tan Beater would fetch on Gunbroker.

Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.

I couple inaccuracies in the article. The MEU(SOC) 1911 was just for recon; the rest of the MEU units had the M9. Recon is going to the SIG (I think), MARSOC is using the Glock (per SOCOM contract) after having used the Kimber 1911 and the Colt (for a while).

I loved the MEU(SOC) 1911s. The armorers kept those things humming along. One of my frames was a Remington Rand circa 1942 and it was just a workhorse.

How did a Kimber ever make it? Yikes.

I know, right?? They adopted it during the "Det 1"/early MARSOC days. I am not sure how long they used it. Since their funding is SOCOM and not USMC they don't go through the normal procurement channels we did.

I mean, honestly, what a piece of crap. The finish looking like that. The completely unneeded recoil system. A proprietary rail that doesn't fit anything. No frontstrap checkering. This is a net win for the corp. That thing was an embarrassment from the start that only lifetime NRA fudds and former Marines were excited about.
When you're done saying what you're saying, stop saying it.

Which "what"? The MEUSOC, the Kimber, or the Colt?

You could say the same about the Colt.
