"Knowledge without experience is just information"--Mark Twain

I spent a little time in a unit that issued 1911s when I was in. They all had Springfield armory slides and no rail. Never did see a kimber.
Sad to see the 1911 go.
Once upon a time, Kimber was a smaller operation capable of doing things correctly. Once they went mainstream they prioritized manufacturing over quality, same as any other company does when it gets large. I remember purchasing a Series Two way back when the reputation of the Series One was still fresh, and it was a dumpster fire. The Colts I owned around the same time did much better.
Has the USMC phased out the M9A1's yet?
Why so much hate for 1911s? I have a trp op and a Wilson, never a problem with them and they’ve both been through several classes where the sand was bad.
Kimbers are the harbor freight off 1911s.

The most accurate pistol I've ever shot was a Kimber. Desert Warrior that was boringly accurate and reliable, punched out the bullseye, then the 3 o'clock, and then 9, then 6 and had to stop because the target was gone.
My wife's Kimber isn't nearly as accurate, but it has been reliable.
I'll never understand the hate Kimber gets.
