Single point sling recs for push/pull method

What if you don't want a 7" tube sticking out the back and use something like:

Rhett Neumayer uses a short tube and still puts his cheek on it, using a right-side-only charging handle if I recall. Maybe not that short however.

I'm gonna experiment with the shortest I have found and see what if any effect it has on reliability. If one is gonna do the pistol thing, may as well shoot for small as possible. It does seem some combination of sling, cheek weld, combo thing can exist for good stability and targeting in SD/GD distances for which a Ar pistol/PDW makes sense as the tool chosen.
