Just for completeness, there are also the stainless body A5 buffers.

Weights for the Stainless A5 buffers

    A5SH0: 6.35oz
    A5SH1: 7.19oz
    A5SH2: 7.97oz
    A5SH3: 8.81oz
    A5SH4: 9.60oz

These are most useful for blowback PCC applications and generally way too heavy for normal DI uses.

An over sized gas port or a high restriction suppressor can add enough gas drive to over power any reasonable heavy buffer.

As mentioned before, if a carbine is way over gassed, that should be addressed first before changing buffers.

I make all my guns run on a H buffer.
There are several products on the market that can enable you to acheive that.
Putting in a heavier buffer is not the answer.
    This right here.

Also, quality barrels with proper gas ports run great with H1 buffers.

    9mm blow-back, for one.

Lord. I'd forgotten about those nightmares. Twice the recoil with a fraction of the muzzle energy. I remember those Cav Arms plastic lowers used to break when goobers converted them to 9mm.
