I have zero sympathy as far as the state and county governments being total f*ckups. They have shown over and over to be *ss clowns, yet the people vote the same dipsh*ts in time and time again. This is part of the reason me and my brother left the state as well as a crapload of other residents. Yes, the people dying sucks, but hitting the stupid button over and over after getting burned every time dulls my empathy a little.

I saw a clip with people saying the authorities were advising people to shelter in place, so there's no telling what the toll will be, sadly.

They are blaming the Utility Company for not cutting the power quick enough, I'm not sure how all of that works.

I don't think I've ever seen a fire that hot.

A lot of conspiracy theories are flying about now too. A lot of that prime land in that area was sought after by the elite, and most owners did not want to sell.

Yes. We got hammered with Canadian wildfire smoke here (northeast) last June. I've never seen anything like it. And frankly found the whole thing a little suspicious. Like some whack jobs driving down the road tossing lit road flares out the window or something. We had "Red Alert " air quality warnings for many days. Similar to covid, authorities were telling people to stay inside.
I'm wondering if wildfires are going to be the next thing to hinder voter turnout in coming elections?

Meanwhile, in California, there is legislation to remove the requirement for multiple stairwells in small to medium apartment complexes to make it easier to build more of them…

One way out in an emergency is plenty said the overlords…

Lived on Oahu from 1978 to 1982. Haven’t visited in a long time. Maui was always amazing. Still have family and friends there. The old sugarcane and pineapple plantations are now overgrown grasslands. I think the last Maui sugarcane plantation closed almost a decade ago.

We can aid the shit out of Ukraine, but can't help out a State in the union.

Best wishes for your family. I was almost there in 2020. Wildfire literally washed over my home, we had no time to get out. We got lucky, lots of damage but we were ok and the home stood.

I've rode out all kinds of shit, but I can't imagine having to huddle with your family in the ocean to ride out a fire.

Not a lot you could bring to that, other than a fully prepped boat, that would make that a little easier. I bet next year people have a few more fully prepped boats.
