    Taurus' new TS9

    From Taurus:

"The Taurus TS9 continues the Taurus tradition of service pistols that began with the first revolvers produced for the Brazilian government, and has continued since then. The TS9 is a rugged, reliable 9mm 17 round striker fired pistol that passed the rigorous NATO pistol proof tests. The TS9 isn’t just good on paper, it’s good in the streets. As the pistol of choice for elite Brazilian military and law enforcement special operations units, the TS9 continues to prove its worth in action. Now available on the US market for the first time thanks to a government contract overrun, you have a limited time opportunity to get your hands on this duty ready international service pistol!"

Never heard of this gun before, but evidently it's a limited time thing like something from Burger King or Taco Bell. It does remind me of some of the Turkish guns or Caracal's handgun.

Not to sound like a dick, but what exactly is the point of a pistol like this? For a hundred or two bucks more someone can but a proven pistol. Heck, for the same money, why wouldn't someone pick a used Glock?

In the case of the Philippine Police contract, I would guess that price was the critical factor since they could have bought any of various brands.

Even in a world awash with polymer 9mm's new designs keep coming out. Some will do OK, others will drop off the radar fairly quickly.
