Arms America imports the FB VIS 100. It is a modern DA/SA double stack service pistol with optics mounting. It was recently adopted by the Polish army.

P64's and P83's are chambered in 9x18 Makarov. It's a different cartridge than "regular" 9mm. Your friend could by a VIS-100.
