    Beretta's "New Assault Rifle Platform"

About time for a new one from Beretta, I guess:

"Full compatibility with Italian Army personal equipment was thoroughly checked, which led for example to smoothing some angles in order to avoid entanglements. This was the case for the non-reciprocating T-Lever, which was carefully designed to minimise the risk of entanglement.

According to Beretta, the NARP has overcome all NATO tests, including that on stoppages, with around 15,000 MRBS (Mean Rounds Between Stoppages).

Designers unveiled that the choice went for a prismatic heavy bolt that ensures good reliability even when the weapon is fouled, the choice of the short stroke gas piston also reducing stoppage risks. The heavy bolt selection also led to a reduced firing rate, around 700 rounds per minute, which not only increases the weapon controllability when fired in automatic mode but also decreases wear and tear, increasing the weapon’s life. The NARP is fitted with a forward assist, to close the bolt should something go wrong, and with an ejection port cover that reduces dirt to enter the weapon when not in use."

I bet it takes over a huge chunk of the ACR/ARX market…

Looks pretty good, as in "If I was in the market I would seriously consider it."
Never had an issue with Beretta's.

So Beretta made an MCX, I'm sure it will do well.

Wonder if there will be a civilian market version?

    I’d be interested in one.

Beretta makes some excellent stuff. I would definitely trust it out of the box vs anything from sig at this point.

Beretta makes the 92 series pistol and some other models in both Italy and their Tennessee factory. I would think they could do the same with this rifle if they thought there was a business case for it.

I'm a Beretta fan (sorta), but I don't like the Sig MCX. So I'm having a hard time trying to find any real reason to like Beretta's copy of the MCX?

I much rather have that new HK thing that HK probably won't ever let us have... The HK MCX... https://www.heckler-koch.com/en/Prod...20rifles/HK433

I don't think this new Beretta rifle will be of much interest commercially though. I remember back when the ARX made it's first appearance at ShotShow in 2009 (if I recall correctly) and people were pretty excited about it. But the "NARP" is just not exciting people like the ARX did... Maybe it's the absolutely horrible name they gave it, or maybe it's because people can just go by a Sig MCX and have basically the same thing. Plus, if Beretta will drop all support of the ARX commercially after years of never really supporting it, then what gives people any confidence that they won't do the exact same thing with the NARP? Which already isn't as popular as the ARX was in it's beginning stages.

I am quite happy with a regular old internal piston AR. But really, if buying an external pistol AR-ish gun… Beretta seems like a good choice if they have improved things further than Caracal.

I struggled to see in the pictures, though, is that upper/lower the same shape as an AR?
