Forward charging handles can be difficult to use with lights, lasers, and slings. Even though most can be swapped, they are not as ambi as the AR.

AR ergonomics, with a little update for ambi, is by far the dominant design. It’s not by accident. We even see many designs that could use folding stocks that choose to use an AR collapsible stock.

That's a good point. So side of the reciever is the way to go if the plan is to mount multiple accessories up front.

"Dominant" design doesn't make it best for me.

I like transporting guns discretely in short bags. Also getting in and out of vehicles, storage, etc. I love bullpup or folding stock or short-barrel PCC handiness. Suits my lifestyle.

It sounds like you should buy an ARX while you still can. But the AR style charging handle doesn’t preclude a folding stock, there is a picture of one in the article.

The guy I sold my ARX100 to would be happy to sell it back to me. But after initial excitement I decided I didn't want an Italian polymer Kalashnikov.

I've had more fun with the Mini-14 Tactical I replaced it with.

So if you Google "Prismatic Heavy Bolt" you get this page from Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BjCU4NQHeD2/

Which leads you to ADC or Armi Dallera Custom this then leads you to find the following about their Carrier Assembly M4 which states "It is aesthetically different from the other similar for its prismatic and non-round shape."

Link to their web page: https://www.adccustom.com/bolts-carriers/?lang=en

I'm not sure if they (ADC) had a hand in the new Beretta carbine, but I would venture a guess that this is the bolt contour they are talking about.

I think the bolt carrier telescopes over the barrel, like the SCAR. No way it can be a regular AR carrier if there is a folding stock version.

I'm not saying it's like a regular M16 BCG, but the cuts seem like the MCX's (link: https://www.sigsauer.com/carrier-ass...n-cam-pin.html)

Beretta is typically quite civilian friendly, so I would expect some variation stateside in the next 2-3 years. Looks interesting.

I’ve considered a Caracal 816, so I’d love to see some sort of technical comparison…maybe even who they hired/contracted to help design it. I’d chuckle if it’s the same guys who did the 416-516-816.
