Got it, but if an announced natural disaster (Storm, Dam Break, Volcano, Earthquake, etc) was causing me think about leaving my house, the scale of the disaster would preclude going anywhere better in a car. Sorry too hypothetical for me, we'd all be dead in this type of scenario anyway.

Where do you get the idea that it would only by non-automotive transportation.

How about a train derailment that spills a chlorine or other toxic gas. You have about 10 mins to grab whatever you need a leave the house for an undetermined amount of time.
So you grab what you need and throw it in you vehicle and drive two towns over.
Happened in Ohio not too long ago.
