Is the US Headed Towards Another Civil War?

Barbra F. Walter is a so called expert on civil war. She says the US was officially classified as a anocracy in early 2021. A anocracy is considered to be at high risk for violence.

I read her book Why Civil Wars Start last year. Mostly leftist drivel, with her suggestions for avoiding a civil war just a laundry list of liberal talking points and legislative wish list (abolish the electoral college, gun control, more diversity crap). Even if you follow her central thesis, that civil wars are caused by a historically powerful group choosing violence in an effort to retain that power, her ideas were just dumb from the "avoidance" perspective.

But to answer the thread's question, yes, we certainly are. We also need to recognize that a civil war is damn near the best case scenario because the only real alternative is the slow but continual slide into oblivion where generations will look back and hate those that meekly surrendered freedoms for the chains of slavery without so much as a whimper. Short of a miracle, we won't be voting our way back from the brink we've found ourselves on. The only peaceful option likely remaining will be some form of Balkanization or national divorce, and even that will almost certainly be a violent affair.

LOL like that garbage wouldn't be the CAUSE of a civil war, not a way to avoid one! Importing millions of Third World dregs won't help either; hell, I saw a clip the other day where those vermin were coming across the border chanting "Venezuela!" Talk about ingrates. They are stepping across the border with an entitlement mentality already ingrained. If anything they will be used by the Left as cannon fodder against us...."We give you all this free shit, you must do this for us".

What she fails to understand is that most Americans don't want to be Marxists and that pushing her crap she only makes more people oppose her.

There will never be another civil war because we are a nation of weenies now. Unwilling to suffer inconveniences in exchange for greater freedom. We saw a stolen election in 2020 and did nothing. I can’t imagine anything that will provide the needed initiative.

This is really naive. A civil war would not start because of well-fed people like us getting upset and organizing one just for kicks (regardless of what Pelosi and the Jan 6 buffalo jump memes claim).

A civil war would start at various times of crisis. For example, when the USD hyperinflates, people who are currently fed but poor became unfed and hungry and start mass violence, and the local government that would normally crack down on them lacks either the will or the paid and well-fed police available to do a crack down. Hungry mob does something like the 2020 riots, chaos reigns for a week or two, then some sort of federal force comes in, initially welcomed by the less-hungry but some order like the confiscations after Katrina is given, local friendlies turn un-friendly, alliances start shifting between feds, hungry mob and local non-hungry types, etc.

It's not a planned out or armchair thing, it's a rolling disaster that shows up unexpectedly. My 2 cents.

While I don't disagree, when I see condescending posts like that I always have to ask: What exactly did YOU do about it? Not a personal attack, just that when some people do the "tsk tsk shame on you" comments I usually can't recall hearing about them on the news taking things into their own hands. Just sayin'.....
