    Drug of choice?

Caffeine vs Alcohol. I made my decision out of the necessity to off set the constant sleep deprivation that I have chosen to accept. It is really amazing how addicted I am to coffee. My body craves it. Headaches, mood enhancement, bowel activity, thinking power. I can't think of any benefit from alcohol. I still miss the taste of a good beer and the smooth feel of bourbon. But, I have adopted coffee across the board as my all day beverage. My kitchen has 3 coffee devices right now readily available to dispense my elixir of life. Don't ask me to quit, don't get between me and my mug, just let my mind and body buzz. Yes, I am an addict. No, I am not a quitter.

I remember sitting out on the patio with a Black Coffee and a Marlboro Ciggerette every morning before PT.
Very relaxing at a point in my life where I didn't relax much.

The Best Part of Wakng up is running for the bathroom after finishing my Coffee and putting my smoke out.
In the final moments of my first marriage I would take a dump in the Master and leave the door open for her to enjoy it too!

If I could only choose 1, caffine.

    It actually has benefits.

I am not trying to put my drug of choice on a pedestal, but yes. Caffeine does have many health benefits. Probably in moderation though. I represent excessive consumption. What is the the analogy to an Alcoholic?

I enjoy both, but not every day. A cup of coffee (caffeine) gives me a great feeling similar to amphetamines, but if I drink coffee regularly it doesn't. The rush from rising alcohol in the bloodstream after a couple drinks is very enjoyable. Chasing that rush with more drinks is a fail, just get drunk. Daily use of either... no thanks. Prefer to enjoy caffeine and alcohol rather than needlessly enslave myself for no joy.

I too enjoy both, but I would chose coffee well over alcohol. I stopped drinking during the week days and I noticed my overall mood and my recovery from workouts was just better, I still have a drink in social settings and like to have a drink at the end of the day on weekends watch Baseball or Football but coffee for me is just an everyday thing. I was stuck driving in a cold rainy day last week to a customer site and a 30oz Yeti of Red Rock Black Magic and some CCR and I was in heaven.

Coffee everyday sometimes twice a day...take a cup before the gym helps avoid a preworkout.

Beer maybe once a week or every two weeks and I love my porters or stouts

Coffee, makes you poop; alcohol makes you puke…

    It's that simple.

I like my coffee and will drink it as long as I can.
I gave up beer a number of years ago, so far coffee hasn't had any detrimental affects.

I may be getting immune to coffee's affects, mornings when I wake up too early (0300) I can have a cup or two and go back to sleep for a couple of hours.

I've also recently learned that if coffee has that affect you may have ADHD
    That wouldn't surprise me.
