I just found a Comp M5s with mount on GB for $650 , New old stock at damn near half price, I could not let that deal go. I'm broke but thought I'll kill myself later if I dont.

Read a fairly even wide range of opinions the PRO was mostly just a rebadged Comp M3 on one side to

totally being something not a Comp 3, but ok, and over to teetering on junk. Think I recall a few claim it was an M2 with improved battery life also.

I had 2 PRO models(1 Y strap retainer and the other the individual tethers) that were very close, buy even then I don't think the dots were identical when each were placed on the same setting.

I realized last night night I have an ACO on a Colt 6700. That optic seemed like less of a Aimpoint vs the PRO. My PRO has been great. What I noticed on my ACO is the dot would go from too dim to starburst in a few clicks. The dot would not titrate up evenly. It has always worked just not like other Aimpoint’s. Its price point reflects it too.
    My .02.

Hey Coal Dragger, I got one with the mount and the whole deal too. Hope that mount is nice.

Aimpoint is GTG across the board, degrees of better between products - not good vs bad. T2, M4, M5 are the most leading tech. The PRO and Duty RDS are GTG, what you give up for these is not critical criteria to most shooters.

ACRO have the most leading tech as pistol sights have to withstand much more abuse than any rifle or shotgun.

People put ACROs on carbines and shotguns now due to its compact size and how low it sits on the mount.

My thing with Aimpoint is that the CTO SHOULD be $275, The PRO SHOULD be $325. I've tried both, and owned a PRO briefly, and what you get for their price makes you just get a ROMEO 5 and a nice mount that is completely adequate for less money than either aimpoint sight alone. I finally found a Comp M3, but it's $829. I'd grab it if I hadn't spent all my money for the month.

I've not tried the duty, but the early glass tint comments in the reviews concerned me a little. It doesn't bother everyone, but tint drives me nuts and is distracting.

I was wanting an ACRO to top off or side mount my NF 1-8. But it requires plates and confusion I have not been able to get my head around. Even considered it as a primary like you suggested for same reasons, before grabbing that M5 for a steal. But since I got it for same price as ACRO, I didn’t. But it’s on the radar for rifle use.
